Just to explain in a view sentences what the “Video Rack Series” is about. The name is kinda self-explanatory anyway. I invite artists over and have them talk about one of their videos. Basically this is all “Behind the Scenes” material.

My first guest is LMNZ from Berlin City, who released a very interessting project this year. An international album named “Worldwide Rap”, featuring 76 artists rockin in 29 languages. The first video “Worldwide Intro” features Yarah Bravo. The curtain rises.

LMNZ: I love that song, especially the beat turned out really dope. It was the last joint that got finished for “Worldwide Rap” since I had another intro first but wasn’t really happy with it. So finally I had the right idea for the beat and the vibe and from there on the inspiration showed up again. The track introduces “Worldwide Rap” with the right kind of power and strength like it’s supposed to be. Type of song you just want to turn up the stereo to the max. We’re coming with a strong album and message so the intro had to rep that.

I’m proud that Yarah Bravo is doing the tune with me. She’s a very dope persona and it’s always inspiring to chill and vibe with her. Originally Homeboy Sandman should have been on the song too but he couldn’t match the deadline unfortunately. I’m a big fan of his music so it’s kind of sad that it didn’t work out. Maybe in the future, we’ll see.

Concerning the video we had plans to make it really buttas; I had a very skilled team. We thought about “rooftops” as a theme for the video since the song is the intro of “Worldwide Rap” and should show the open-mindedness. Also something like “from the darkness to the light / brighter future” should have been shown. We had the idea to start the plot in a cellar, climbing up to alleys, little rooftops and ending the video on a big rooftop on a 32-story building.

Unfortunately the team I had didn’t answer the phone for the last 5 days before the shoot, when everything was already planned and set…
They hollered the day after I had already shot the video with another team and said: “Sorry, we were boozing a lot and had girls around, were too gutless to pick up the phone.” Big deal.

I made it happen the day we had planned it although it really was a hustle to still get it done in time, especially because Yarah is always travelling, so we had to get it done that day. Due to the given circumstances we did it all very spontaneously and I met the new team the night before the actual shoot, discussed the theme until 5 in the morning and got up at 8 again to prepare everything. Besides having like 36°C in the shade best conditions to look nice in a video… haha
We met at 2pm, filmed until maybe 2 am. It was a long but extremely nice day with lots of fun.

On top of the struggle I’ve already described we found out that half of the filmed material was fucked since one of the tapes died. So I had to improvise again. First I thought it wouldn’t work out but I made it happen, fixed it, and spent a lot of time in post production.

So yeah here’s the final result and although it’s nothing like what we had planned I’m pretty happy with the video. Hope you can enjoy it too my people!
